More about Connecting People

Connecting people is about the massive role that housing providers, and other agencies, play in supporting older and vulnerable people. They can provide attractive and well-managed housing, deliver care and support services, offer advice and signposting, and work alongside statutory and voluntary agencies.

Key issues

Our aims are to:

  • ensure that the housing providers 'offer' contribute to strategies and policies in areas like health and social care, homelessness and support services
  • monitor and oversee the housing contribution to key strategies
  • contribute to needs-analysis and requirements for future accommodation and services
  • identify and share best practice, and ensure good communication and sharing of information across housing, care and support agencies
  • understand the implications of national policy agendas - such as customer-profiling
  • improve access to services for tenants – by connecting front-line housing staff to neighbourhood services such as mental health, and young people’s support
  • provide a collective voice into the city’s commissioning arrangements
  • review the findings of serious case reviews to identify trends and share learning-points
